  • About Erika Amoako-Agyei

    Erika Amoako-Agyei is an international business consultant, intercultural expert and corporate trainer for global companies expanding into Africa. She is also a freelance writer and author with a focus on Africa in the global marketplace. Prior to this, Amoako-Agyei worked ten years internationally for the IBM Corporation, including three years in West Africa as the regional sales manager. As country director for IBM Ghana, she managed company operations in Ghana, while overseeing multiple projects in Liberia, Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Her job responsibilities included regular travel to IBM's head office in Johannesburg, South Africa. Upon returning to the United States, Amoako-Agyei became the director of corporate relations for the Thunderbird School of Global Management, a leading graduate school for international business education. As a cross cultural consultant, she shares her insights on African management practices and inter-cultural communication through public speaking and publications. Drawing from her experience, she has written a businessperson’s guide to social and professional culture in sub-Saharan Africa, titled Business and Social Etiquette in Africa: A Guide to Understanding Culture and Business Practices (Loyola Marymount University, forthcoming in 2011).You can learn more about her work and follow her publications at:
